Choose your camera, set webcam video quality, and adjust screen-share quality (including Max Screenshare Height) in Bevy Virtual Meetup, Bevy Virtual Conference, or a webinar room while Presenter mode is on.
Camera, video quality, and screen-share quality use the same desktop tray controls in Bevy Virtual Meetup, Bevy Virtual Conference (including backstage), and webinar rooms. You need Presenter mode in the room where you are presenting. If Start video, the camera menu, or Share screen quality controls are missing, ask a host or moderator to turn on presenter mode — see the table below.
- Start video / Stop video — turns your webcam on or off.
- Camera options — drop-up next to the video control: select a camera, open Effects, and set Video Quality.
- Screen Share Quality — drop-up next to Share screen: quality presets and Max Screenshare Height.
Note: Video quality and camera selection are available from the in-session tray after you have Presenter mode — not from the pre-join (haircheck) screen. Get Presenter mode (when camera or quality menus are missing)
If the camera drop-up or screen-share quality menu is missing, confirm you have Presenter mode for that room:

Choose a camera and turn video on
- In the bottom tray, select Start video if your camera is off.
- Open the camera options menu (arrow next to Start video / Stop video).
- Under Select a camera, choose the device you want. The selected camera shows a check mark.
Select Stop video when you want your webcam off. If the control shows Retry, Bevy could not reach a camera — check browser and OS permissions, then try again. For broader presenter troubleshooting, see Troubleshooting steps for presenters.
Set your video quality
Open the camera options menu, then under Video Quality choose the option that fits your connection. Higher quality looks sharper but uses more bandwidth.

Tip: If attendees report lag or freezes on your webcam, switch to Bandwidth Optimized before you change other settings. Your choice is remembered in this browser for later sessions when possible.
Set your screen-share quality
Open the arrow next to Share screen to set quality before or during a share. Choose based on what you are showing (slides vs motion). If you change a setting while you are already sharing, Bevy may ask whether to Restart Now so the new setting applies immediately, or Later to apply on your next share.

Max Screenshare Height sets the maximum vertical resolution in pixels (about 360–2160). Higher values look sharper on large displays but use more bandwidth and CPU. Values above 720px show a high-resolution warning. For most slides and text, 1080 or 1440 is enough; use 2160 only for highly detailed content when your machine and network can handle it.

Background effects (separate how-to)
Blur or replace what appears behind you from the same camera menu (Effects) or from the pre-join screen. Desktop Firefox and Chromium-based browsers support effects; mobile browsers do not.

Tips for a clear stream
- Prefer a wired or strong Wi-Fi connection when you use Quality Optimized or a high Max Screenshare Height.
- Close other apps that use the camera or heavy CPU if quality drops mid-session.
- Start video and set quality before you present so attendees see a stable first impression.
