The backstage is the staging area for a conference stage, where speakers prepare and from which they broadcast to the main stage.
The backstage is a staging area for the main stage of a conference. It's where presenters and speakers wait during their session, and from where they broadcast to a stage.
Access the backstage
Hosts generate a backstage URL when they set up the stage details, found under the Agenda tab during event creation. Hosts share this URL with speakers so they can enter the backstage. You can also find the URL in the Agenda inside the event.
Bevy Virtual Conference events can only be created in the legacy dashboard at this time (Create a new event (Legacy Dashboard).
This URL can also be found in Agenda, inside the event:
Use backstage chat
As a backstage participant, you have three types of chat:
- Backstage chat
- Public chat
- DMs
Backstage chat is essentially a group chat for those in the backstage, and can be used throughout the event. This chat is not visible in the general conference.
You can also chat with the stage public using the Public chat icon. These messages will be visible to all stage attendees.
DMs, stand for Direct Messages, where you can contact any attendee in the event.
Broadcast to a stage
From the backstage, any presenter, including speakers and hosts, can broadcast to a stage.
In the bottom menu, select Broadcast.
Confirm the action in the popup that appears in the top-right corner.
You must have Presenter Mode enabled or be a host/moderator to broadcast to the stage. Contact a host if you do not have either of these permissions.
.
After you click the button, you need to confirm the action in the popup that appears in the right-top corner:
Subsequently, the Broadcast button will change to Stop broadcasting
To stop the broadcast, just click the button Stop broadcasting and confirm the action in the popup:
You can also stream to a stage. To learn more, see Live stream to a stage.
Leave the backstage
If you were only able to access the backstage from the backstage URL, you will need that link to re-enter it. Hosts/moderators can navigate to the backstage from the agenda.
Record from the backstage
The stage itself is automatically recorded. However, you can record the backstage so that you have your recording. To learn more, see record a Bevy Virtual Conference event.
