Create an account to join a community, then Join (or Request to Join) on a chapter page to become a member of that group. You can register for events without joining a chapter.
A community is the Bevy site you visit (for example a company or network’s homepage). Signing up creates your account on that community. A chapter is Bevy’s default designation for a local or topical membership group on that site. Your community may use a different designation — for example group, club, or hub. Joining a chapter is a separate step from creating your account.
Use this page to join the community and one or more chapters. To register for an event without joining a chapter, use the event page RSVP or ticket flow. To stop emails without leaving, see Unsubscribe from a newsletter.
Note: Community signup often says Sign up, Join, or similar. Chapter membership often says Join or Join us. Follow the control on the page you are on.
Join a community
Joining a community means creating an account (or signing in if you already have one). Detailed signup steps are in Create a new account.
- Open the community homepage.
- If you already have an account, select Log in in the upper-right corner and sign in.
- If you do not have an account, create one using one of these paths:
- Select Log in, then Create account. Enter your details and select Sign up.
- Use a Join the community (or similarly labeled) form on the homepage or footer, if your community shows one. The submit button default is Sign up.
- Use a homepage call-to-action button if your community added one. Labels vary — examples include Sign Up, Join, and Start Attending Events.
- Complete the form. Some communities let you choose one or more chapters during signup. If you do not see that field, join chapters from each chapter page after you have an account.
After signup succeeds, you have a community account. You are not automatically a member of every chapter.
Tip: Use the same email you will use for event tickets and chapter mail. If an organizer already added that email, completing signup with it can activate a prospective account — see About prospective users.
Join a chapter
You must be signed in with your community account. If you select Join while signed out, the site sends you to login and then returns you to the chapter page.
- Find the chapter:
- Open the chapters list or map from the community navigation (your community may rename this page).
- Search or browse events near you, then open the hosting chapter from the event page.
- Open that chapter’s page.
- Select the membership control for people who are not members:
- Join (sometimes Join us or another custom label) — you become a member immediately when the chapter is open.
- Request to Join — the chapter requires an application. Complete the form, then wait for a decision.
When an open join succeeds, you see a confirmation such as You’re now a member of this chapter! The same control then offers Leave for members.
Note: Joining a chapter opts you into that chapter’s communications. You can turn chapter mailing lists off later on Profile → Updates, or use the email footer Unsubscribe link. Leaving the chapter is a different action on the chapter page.
What the membership button shows
| What you see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Join (or Join us / custom label) | The chapter is open to join. You are not a member yet. | Select Join while signed in. |
| Request to Join | The chapter requires an application. | Select Request to Join, complete the application, then wait for organizers. |
| Application Pending | You already submitted an application. | Wait. The button does not submit again. |
| Leave | You are already a member. | Stay a member, or leave from this control if you intend to end membership. |
| No Join button | The chapter is invite-only, or the page does not show the control for visitors. | Use an invite if you received one, or contact the chapter. Registering for an event still does not require joining. |
Register for an event without joining a chapter
You do not need to join the hosting chapter to register or RSVP. Chapter membership and event tickets are separate. Open the event page and complete the ticket or RSVP flow. During registration, some events show an optional checkbox to join the chapter and receive its email communications. Leave that box unchecked if you only want a ticket.
Many events ask you to sign in (or create an account) before you can RSVP or buy a ticket. You may see Log in to RSVP or Log in to purchase ticket. That is not the same as joining a chapter.
Guest registration lets you register with your name and email without signing in first. Communities enable it per event type, so attendees and chapter members will not see it on every event. Even when it is enabled, some ticket types (for example paid tickets) may still require you to sign in.
Note: If the event shows a log-in RSVP or purchase button, guest registration is not available for that event (or that ticket). Sign in or create an account, then complete registration. You still do not have to join the chapter.
Full registration, confirmation, and My tickets steps are covered in Register or RSVP for an event and Manage tickets and Un-RSVP.
