Create a chapter in the Admin Dashboard and create a new Meetup group for it in the Meetup section. Meetup Pro must already be connected at the community level.
Before you create a chapter that syncs to Meetup, connect Meetup Pro for the community. Steps: Connect to Meetup Pro. For how events and RSVPs sync after the chapter is linked, see Meetup Pro integration.
Create the chapter and a new Meetup group
- In the Admin Dashboard, select Chapters, then New chapter.
- Enter the chapter Title and set the Location (city search fills country, city, time zone, and map pin). Full field help: Create a chapter.
- Open the Meetup section.
- Under Connect a Meetup Group for this chapter, select Create new.
- Enter a Meetup group title.
- Add Meetup topics when the topic field is shown, and fill the description that explains who should join and what the Meetup will do.
- Select Save chapter.
Note: The Meetup section appears when Meetup Pro is connected for the community and your role can view chapter integrations. If you do not see it, finish Connect to Meetup Pro first, or ask an HQ admin.
Important: Creating a new Meetup group can add a monthly fee that you pay directly to Meetup — not to Bevy. Confirm Meetup’s pricing before you create groups you do not need.
After you save
- Bevy creates the Meetup group and links it to the chapter when the create succeeds.
- In the Admin Dashboard, a Meetup icon appears next to chapters that are connected to Meetup.
- Published events for this chapter can sync to Meetup when community auto-publish settings allow it. Configure those toggles in Connect to Meetup Pro. Behavior details: Meetup Pro integration.
Tip: If the Meetup group already exists in your Pro network, do not use Create new. Link it instead — see Connect an existing chapter to a Meetup group. You can also choose Do not connect to Meetup when you create the chapter and link a group later.
When a group does not connect
Chapters that were already linked under the historical Bevy/Meetup integration keep working when the group is still in the connected Pro network. If a group does not connect, it is often outside the Pro network, or Meetup Pro is not connected for the community. Reconnect or confirm the Pro Network URL-Name in Connect to Meetup Pro, then try again. Contact Bevy Support if the group should be in network and still does not link.
