Choose how to shape what visitors see on a public event page: update title, description, banner, and thumbnail on Details, or rearrange layouts and components in Page Builder when your chapter role allows it. Use this page to pick the right surface — linked articles cover the steps.
The public event page has two editing surfaces. Use Details (and related event tabs) for the text, images, people, and tickets that fill the page. Use Page Builder when you need to rearrange layouts or add components on that event — or when HQ edits the default event template for every chapter. Pick the surface below, then open the linked article for the full steps.
| Goal | Use | How-to article |
|---|---|---|
| Change title, description, short description, banner, or thumbnail | Event Dashboard → Details | Add event description, banner, and images |
| Add speakers or other people who appear on the public page | Event Dashboard → People (content); Page Builder People component (placement) | Create and configure events (Manage event people); About event page builder components |
| Rearrange sections, add layouts, or customize one event’s design | Event Dashboard → Page Builder (one-off event page) | About the event page builder |
| Change the design every new event inherits | Admin Dashboard → Page Builder → default event template | About the event page builder |
| Pick a prebuilt banner, columns, or RSVP row | Page Builder → Layouts | About event page layouts |
| Show tickets, sponsors, agenda, gallery, or Slideshare blocks | Page Builder → Components (content still comes from the event dashboard) | About event page builder components |
Important: Opening and saving Page Builder for a chapter or event only applies to chapter team members whose role includes permission to modify chapter and event Page Builder. If you do not see Page Builder on the event (or under chapter Settings), ask a chapter team member who can assign roles — or your HQ admin — whether your role includes that permission. Updating title, description, banner, and thumbnail on Details still follows your usual event-edit permissions. See Chapter Team Members.
Note: HQ must turn on the event page builder for the community before organizers can customize event pages. If Page Builder is enabled and your role includes permission but the control is still missing, ask your HQ admin or Customer Success Manager. Enablement steps are in About the event page builder.
Edit text and images on Details
Start here when you only need to change what the page says or which images it shows — not the overall layout.
- In the Chapter Dashboard, select Events, then open the event.
- Select the Details tab.
- Update title, description, short description, event banner, or event thumbnail, then save or publish.
Image sizes, short-description behavior, and default fallbacks are in Add event description, banner, and images. For opening other event tabs, see Manage and edit an event.
Customize one event with Page Builder
Use Page Builder when you need to move sections, add a layout, or place components (People, Tickets, Sponsors, Agenda, and others) on this event only. After you save a one-off event page, it no longer picks up later changes to the default event template until you restore the template.
- Confirm your chapter role includes permission to modify chapter and event Page Builder.
- In the Chapter Dashboard, select Events, then open the event.
- Select Page Builder.
- Edit the canvas, preview on desktop/tablet/phone if needed, then select Save.
For panels, save/restore, and the difference between the default template and a one-off page, see About the event page builder. For prebuilt layouts, see About event page layouts. For components that pull event-dashboard content, see About event page builder components. For text, buttons, and images you place yourself, see About event page builder elements. For show/hide timing on containers, see About display rules in the event page builder.
Tip: Components such as People, Sponsors, and Tickets display content you set on the event (People tab, sponsors, tickets). Fix missing cards or ticket widgets in the event dashboard first, then adjust placement in Page Builder.
Change the default design for all events
HQ admins edit the default event template in the Admin Dashboard. That design applies to published events that have not been customized as a one-off page. Organizers who only manage one chapter event should use the event’s Page Builder control instead.
