Cancel the published event in Bevy first. Bevy attempts to remove the matching Meetup Pro event listing. If Meetup still shows the event as live after a few minutes, cancel it on Meetup.
Use this article when a chapter event was published to Meetup and you need the Meetup listing to stop after you cancel in Bevy. Bevy cancel steps (permissions, emails, hidden events): Cancel an event. How publish and RSVP sync work after Meetup Pro is connected: Meetup Pro integration.
Cancel in Bevy first
- In the Chapter Dashboard for the host chapter, open Events.
- On the published event card, select Cancel, then confirm.
Canceling in Bevy is irreversible. You cannot republish the same Bevy event. Full cancel behavior: Cancel an event.
Note: Only the host chapter can cancel. Collaborator chapters on a cohosted event do not see Cancel for the host’s event.
What Bevy does on Meetup
- When the Bevy event was already published to Meetup, Bevy attempts to delete or cancel the Meetup event as part of the Meetup sync.
- Pending Meetup sync usually runs within about five minutes when the community connection and chapter Meetup link are active.
- If the Bevy event was never created on Meetup (for example it stayed hidden, or the chapter was not linked), there is no Meetup listing to remove.
Community connect and auto-publish settings: Connect to Meetup Pro. Sync overview: Meetup Pro integration.
Tip: Wait a few minutes, then check Meetup before you cancel manually. Many listings disappear after the sync completes.
If Meetup still shows the event as live
Meetup API errors, expired Meetup login, or a delayed sync can leave the Meetup event live after Bevy is already canceled. When that happens, cancel the Meetup event yourself.
- Open the matching Meetup event. Prefer the Meetup link from the Bevy event card when it is still available. If that link is gone, open the chapter’s Meetup group and find the event by title and date.
- On Meetup (desktop or mobile web), open Organizer tools, then Cancel event.
- Confirm the cancel (or cancel and delete, if Meetup offers that option).
- Confirm the Meetup event no longer appears as an upcoming live event for the group.
Meetup’s own cancel steps: Canceling an event on Meetup.
Important: Canceling on Meetup notifies Meetup members through Meetup. Bevy’s Event Canceled automated email (when it is allowed for that event) is separate — see Cancel an event. Canceling on Meetup does not undo the Bevy cancel.
Note: There is no separate “sync cancellation” button in Bevy. After you cancel in Bevy, either Meetup removes the listing through the integration, or you cancel it on Meetup.
When you cannot cancel on Meetup
- Confirm Meetup Pro is still connected for the community and that your Meetup organizer account can manage that group — reconnect steps: Connect to Meetup Pro.
- Only upcoming Meetup events can be canceled on Meetup. Past Meetup events cannot be canceled the same way.
- If the Meetup listing should have been removed automatically and still cannot be canceled, contact Bevy Support with the Bevy event URL and the Meetup event URL.
