As a host or moderator in an interactive Bevy Virtual room, pin one or more people’s camera tiles so they stay on page 1 of the Gallery for everyone — even when they are muted — and stay toward the front of cloud recordings and live streams.
In interactive Bevy Virtual rooms, Gallery order usually follows who is speaking. People who communicate without audio — for example sign-language interpreters — can fall off page 1. Pin for everyone keeps selected camera tiles at the front of the Gallery for every viewer, including people who join later.
| Who | Can pin or unpin | What they see |
|---|---|---|
| Host or moderator | Yes — Pin for everyone on a camera tile | Pinned people stay on Gallery page 1 for the whole room |
| Presenter or attendee (not host/moderator) | No | Same Gallery order as everyone else, including pinned people |
Note: This is not the same as pinning a chat message. Chat pinning keeps a message at the top of session chat — see Moderation tools in Bevy Virtual. Video-grid pinning keeps people visible in the Gallery.
Where it works
Use video-grid pinning in interactive rooms that show many people in Gallery or Speaker view — for example a Bevy Virtual Meetup interactive event, or a Bevy Virtual Conference room that uses the same many-to-many video grid.
- Hosts and moderators see Pin for everyone on camera tiles in Gallery, on the large Speaker tile, and on tiles in the participants strip under Speaker view.
- You can pin more than one person. Pinned people stay on page 1 in the order you pinned them, even when they are muted or not the active speaker.
- There is no separate community switch for this control. When your community is on the current Bevy Virtual release, hosts and moderators have it in those rooms.
Tip: Pinning is most useful when many people share the Gallery. In a listen-only webinar room, only presenters appear on camera, so pinning is rarely needed for the hidden audience.
Pin someone for everyone
- Join the interactive Bevy Virtual room as a host or moderator.
- Find the person’s camera tile in Gallery view, or in Speaker view (large tile or the strip of other people).
- Open the tile controls on that person’s camera (hover or focus the tile to show the pin control).
- Select Pin for everyone.
Everyone in the room — including late joiners — sees that person toward the front of the Gallery. The pin stays with the person if they briefly reconnect.
Note: You cannot pin a screen share. Pin camera tiles only. During a screen share, the shared screen stays the main video in recordings and streams; pinned cameras stay preferred after the share.
Unpin someone
- Open the tile controls on the pinned person’s camera.
- Select Unpin for everyone.
Any host or moderator can unpin. Unpinning returns that person to the normal Gallery order (active speaker, raised hands, and device state).
What attendees see
- Pinned people appear on page 1 of the Gallery for every viewer.
- Muted people stay pinned — they do not need to speak to stay visible.
- In Speaker view, pinned people stay toward the front of the people strip; pinning does not force every viewer into Speaker view by itself.
Recordings and live streams
When a cloud recording or live stream is running, pinned people are also preferred toward the front of that layout. If someone is sharing their screen, the share stays the main video so slides are not covered by a pinned camera.
Important: Only hosts and moderators can pin. Presenters and attendees without host or moderator rights do not see Pin for everyone.
