Turn on Music mode from the microphone menu in Bevy Virtual when you play live music or send a pre-mixed audio feed. Music mode turns off browser voice processing so volume and tone stay steady for listeners.
Music mode lives in the same microphone menu you use to pick a mic and speaker in Bevy Virtual Meetup, Bevy Virtual Conference, and webinar rooms. When Music mode is on, Bevy turns off browser voice processing — automatic volume control, noise removal, and echo removal — so music and mixed feeds keep a steady level for listeners.
| Use Music mode when… | Leave Music mode off when… |
|---|---|
| You play or perform live music into the event. | You are speaking only — voice processing helps keep speech clear and reduces echo. |
| You send a pre-mixed show feed from a mixer, broadcast console, or streaming microphone that already mixes music and voices. | You want Noise cancellation on. Music mode turns Noise cancellation off and keeps it unavailable while Music mode stays on. |
| Listeners report the show getting quieter over time even though your mixer levels look steady. | You cannot wear headphones and room speakers play event audio near an open microphone (echo protection is off in Music mode). |
Important: Wear headphones (or another closed listening path) while Music mode is on. Echo removal is off, so event audio from speakers can feed back into your microphone.
Before you start
- Join the live room with permission to send microphone audio — as a presenter, host, or moderator who is presenting. Listener-only roles can open the mic menu for speakers, but Music mode stays unavailable until you can send audio.
- Connect the microphone or mixer input you will use, and allow the browser to access your microphone.
- For choosing devices and Noise cancellation on its own, see Choose a microphone and speaker in Bevy Virtual.
Turn Music mode on
- In the event tray, find the microphone button.
- Select the arrow on the microphone button to open the audio device menu.
- Under the device lists, find Music mode (below Noise cancellation when that switch is shown).
- Turn Music mode on.
Hover or focus the Music mode row to read the in-product tip: Music mode turns off voice processing (automatic volume, noise and echo removal). Use it for music or a pre-mixed feed from a mixer, and wear headphones because echo removal is off.
Note: Turning Music mode on also turns Noise cancellation off. While Music mode stays on, Noise cancellation is disabled so your feed stays unprocessed. Turn Music mode off first if you need Noise cancellation again.
Turn Music mode off
- Open the microphone menu again (arrow on the microphone button).
- Turn Music mode off.
Browser voice processing returns for speech. You can turn Noise cancellation back on when you need it.
Tip: Your Music mode choice stays for the rest of this join. If you leave and rejoin the room, check the switch again before you go live with music.
If music still sounds wrong
- Confirm Music mode shows as on in the microphone menu.
- Confirm the correct microphone or mixer input is selected under Select a microphone.
- Use headphones; turn down or mute room speakers that play event audio near the open mic.
- If Noise cancellation was on before, leave Music mode on — Noise cancellation should stay off and unavailable until you turn Music mode off.
