Choose your microphone and speaker from the microphone button in Bevy Virtual. There is no separate settings window.
Before you start
Connect the microphone and listening device you want to use, then allow your browser to access your microphone. Join the event as a presenter before following these steps.
Applies to: These steps describe the controls after you join an event. On the pre-event device check, use the separate Microphone and Speaker selectors.
Choose a microphone and speaker
- In the event tray, find the microphone button.
- Select the arrow on the microphone button to open the audio device menu.
- Under Select a microphone, choose the device you want Bevy Virtual to use for your voice.
- Under Select a speaker, choose the headphones, speakers, or other device that should play event audio.
- Optional: Turn on Noise cancellation to reduce background noise.
A checkmark identifies the selected microphone and speaker. The menu closes after you choose a device.
Note: The Noise cancellation switch is available to presenters when the browser supports audio processing. If the switch is disabled, your browser may not support audio processing or you may not have presenter access.
If you use a streaming microphone
A streaming microphone is an audio input. Some models do not play sound back. If your microphone does not provide audio playback:
- Under Select a microphone, choose the streaming microphone.
- Under Select a speaker, choose headphones, computer speakers, or another listening device.
Tip: Use headphones when possible to reduce echo and prevent event audio from feeding back into your microphone.
Why you may need a separate audio output
Your microphone sends your voice into the event. Your audio output plays the other presenters and event audio back to you. These functions can use different devices. For example, you can speak through a USB streaming microphone and listen through wired headphones.
If a device is missing or unavailable
- If a microphone appears in the list but is unavailable, close other applications that are using it, and try again. You may need to refresh the page.
- If the microphone or speaker section does not appear, connect the device, check your browser and operating-system audio permissions, and refresh the page.
- If the audio options arrow is unavailable, Bevy Virtual has not detected a microphone or speaker.
- On the pre-event device check, choose devices from the separate Microphone and Speaker selectors.

Important: Do not look for a separate Bevy Virtual settings window. In an active event, microphone and speaker selection is in the menu attached to the microphone button.
