Choose a microphone and speaker in Bevy Virtual

Choose your microphone and speaker from the tray in Bevy Virtual Meetup, Bevy Virtual Conference, or a webinar room. There is no separate settings window.

Microphone and speaker selection uses the same Daily tray controls in Bevy Virtual Meetup, Bevy Virtual Conference (including sessions, backstage, and networking tables), and webinar rooms. Device lists come from your browser — Bevy Virtual does not open a separate settings window.

Listening only (no send-audio permission) Audio button (volume icon) Select a speaker only. Microphone rows stay unavailable.

Note: These steps describe the tray after you join. On the pre-event device check, use the separate Microphone and Speaker selectors, then join. To speak in the room you still need Presenter mode — see Use Bevy Virtual Meetup as a presenter, Roles and permissions in Bevy Virtual Conference, or Promote or remove webinar attendees when those paths apply.

Before you start

  1. Connect the microphone and listening device you want to use.
  2. Allow your browser to access your microphone when prompted.
  3. Join the Bevy Virtual room (Meetup, Conference session or backstage, networking table, or webinar).

Choose a microphone and speaker (presenter mode)

  1. In the event tray, find the microphone button.
  2. Select the arrow on the microphone button to open the audio device menu.
  3. Under Select a microphone, choose the device you want Bevy Virtual to use for your voice.
  4. Under Select a speaker, choose the headphones, speakers, or other device that should play event audio.
  5. Optional: Turn on Noise cancellation to reduce background noise.

A checkmark identifies the selected microphone and speaker. The menu closes after you choose a device.

Note: Noise cancellation is available when you have presenter send-audio permission and your browser supports audio processing. If the switch is disabled, your browser may not support audio processing, or you may be on the listening-only Audio control.

Choose a speaker (listening only)

If you do not have presenter send-audio permission, the tray shows an Audio button instead of a live microphone control.

  1. In the event tray, select the Audio button (volume icon), or its arrow, to open the device menu.
  2. Under Select a speaker, choose the headphones, speakers, or other device that should play event audio.

Microphone rows may appear but stay unavailable until you have presenter mode.

If you use a streaming microphone

A streaming microphone is an audio input. Some models do not play sound back. If your microphone does not provide audio playback:

  • Under Select a microphone, choose the streaming microphone.
  • Under Select a speaker, choose headphones, computer speakers, or another listening device.

Tip: Use headphones when possible to reduce echo and prevent event audio from feeding back into your microphone.

Why you may need a separate audio output

Your microphone sends your voice into the event. Your audio output plays the other presenters and event audio back to you. These functions can use different devices. For example, you can speak through a USB streaming microphone and listen through wired headphones.

If a device is missing or unavailable

  • If a microphone appears in the list but is unavailable, close other applications that are using it, and try again. You may need to refresh the page.
  • If the microphone or speaker section does not appear, connect the device, check your browser and operating-system audio permissions, and refresh the page.
  • If the audio options arrow is unavailable, Bevy Virtual has not detected a microphone or speaker.
  • On the pre-event device check, choose devices from the separate Microphone and Speaker selectors.

Important: Do not look for a separate Bevy Virtual settings window. In an active event, microphone and speaker selection is in the menu attached to the microphone or Audio tray control.
