In a Bevy webinar room, hosts and moderators can promote any attendee to presenter from the Participants list without a raised hand, and remove someone so they leave the call right away.
In a webinar room — a Meetup with webinar features on, or a Conference session whose format is Webinar — the audience is hidden from other attendees. Hosts and moderators use the Participants list to see that audience, bring someone on stage, or remove someone who should leave.
- Presenters — tray control for people who already have presenter rights (visible on stage).
- Participants — tray control for the hidden audience. Promote and remove from here.
- Presenter mode — microphone, camera, and screen share for that person.
- Remove from event — ban them from this event and eject them from the call right away.
Note: These steps are for webinar rooms. Interactive Meetups and non-webinar conference sessions already let hosts promote and remove from the usual Participants controls. For what webinar mode is and how to turn it on, see About Bevy webinar mode.
Open the Participants list
- Join the webinar room as a host or moderator.
- In the bottom tray, select Participants (the hidden audience). In a webinar, Presenters is a separate control for people already on stage.
- Find the person in the list.
- Open their Actions menu.
Only hosts and moderators can open the webinar Participants list. Other attendees do not see the audience.
Promote an attendee to presenter (no raised hand)
- Open Participants and open Actions for the person.
- Turn on the Presenter mode switch.
They get microphone, camera, and screen-share controls and become visible with the presenters. You do not need them to raise a hand or send a presenter request first.
- If the switch shows Presenter mode (not in the room) and is disabled, they are not currently in the call — ask them to join, then try again.
- A toast confirms when they become a presenter, or warns if they left before the change applied.
- To take someone off stage, open their Actions again and turn Presenter mode off — from Participants or from Presenters after they are visible.
Tip: Use this for scheduled speakers who joined as attendees. Raise Hand and presenter requests still work when someone asks to speak — they are optional, not required for you to promote them.
Remove an attendee from the event
- Open Participants and open Actions for the person.
- Select Remove from event.
- Confirm in the dialog.
They leave the call immediately — they do not stay until they reload. They see a message that they were removed from the event, and they cannot rejoin this event. Chapter hosts and other people with host rights cannot be removed this way.
Important: Removal bans the person from the event and ejects every device they are using in that event, including a companion phone. Use it for disruption or safety — not for ending a speaker’s turn. To take someone off camera only, turn off Presenter mode.
| Control | Where | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Presenter mode | Participants → Actions on an attendee | Gives that person microphone, camera, and screen share. They do not need to raise a hand first. |
| Remove from event | Participants → Actions on an attendee | Bans them from the event and takes them out of the call immediately — no reload required. |
| Raise Hand / presenter requests | Attendee tray → host Presenter requests | Optional path when someone asks to speak. Still works; not required for you to promote them. |
What attendees see
- When promoted: They get presenter controls (and may need to allow camera and microphone in the browser). They become visible to the room.
- When removed: They leave the call right away and see that they were removed from the event. Reloading does not put them back in.
- Raise Hand: Still available if they want to ask to speak. A host can also promote them without that step.
