This article explains how a host can turn on live transcription and closed captions during a Bevy Virtual Event Meetup session and download a transcript and summary after a recorded event.
As a host, you can turn on live transcription and closed captions during a Bevy Virtual Meetup session. If the session is recorded, you can also download a transcript and a summary after the event.
These terms are used in this article:
- Live transcription—the real-time text version of what speakers say during the session.
- Closed captions—the on-screen text that participants can turn on to read along.
Manage live transcription
Transcription starts automatically when the host joins the session. You manage it from the session toolbar. Select More if you do not see the Transcription control.
Select Transcription to open the Transcription panel. In the panel, you can:
- View the live transcript.
- Select Finish to stop transcription for the session.
- Select Start to begin transcription again if it was stopped.
Turn on closed captions
Closed captions are available when a transcription is active. In the session toolbar, select Enable captions. Select More if you do not see it.
To turn captions off for the session, select Disable captions.
Captions appear on screen for participants who turn them on.
Download a transcript after the event
If the session was recorded, you can generate a transcript and a summary from the Wrap Up tab on the event. To generate and download them:
- Open the completed event in the chapter dashboard.
- Select the Recordings tab.
- In Session video recordings, find the recording, then select Generate Summary.
This creates a transcript and a summary of the session. The post-event transcript is more accurate than the live transcript.
- Check the Transcripts & Summaries table for the job Status. Processing can take up to 10 minutes.
- When the status shows the job is ready, select Download transcript or Download summary.
A recording is required to generate the post-event transcript and summary. Live captions during the session do not replace this file.
