See why the homepage does not list every upcoming event, and what to check when a chapter's events are missing.
The Upcoming events section on the homepage lists published events from your chapters. Visitors can search by city. The list is not every upcoming event in the community.
To feature one event in its own callout under that list, follow Call out an event on the homepage.
How many events show from each chapter
Each chapter contributes only a set number of its events. The usual limit is 3, counting that chapter's soonest events. Your community may use a different number.
Further events from that chapter stay off the list, even when the list is not full yet.
How many events show in total
The list also stops at a total. The usual total is 24 events. Your community may use a different number.
With the usual limits, the homepage shows at most 3 of each chapter's soonest events, and at most 24 events in all. The default list is soonest first.
The row shows a few events at a time. Use the arrows to move through the rest of the list. The arrows do not add events past the total.
The Upcoming events page uses the same per-chapter limit and the same total. Load More on that page shows more of that list. It does not add events past the total.
Contact your Customer Success Manager to change either number.
Sold-out events
Sold-out events stay on the list unless your community hides them.
- Open the Admin Dashboard.
- Select Settings, then stay on General.
- In General Settings, turn on Hide unavailable events.
- Select Save Settings at the bottom of the page, then confirm.
This hides an event only when it is sold out and has no waitlist. An event with a waitlist still shows. The same setting also hides those events on the Upcoming events page and on chapter pages.
When a chapter's events are missing
An event is left off the homepage when any of these are true:
- It is not published.
- It is hidden, or it is a test event.
- It has no start date or no end date.
- Its chapter is inactive or hidden.
A city search lists events near that city, nearest chapters first, and still within the same limits. A chapter with no latitude or longitude is left out of a city search. Set those in Set latitude and longitude for chapter locations.
Some communities open this list from the visitor's location instead of every chapter. Those lists follow the city-search rules, including the latitude and longitude check.
If Restrict search results to one country is on in General settings, events outside that country stay off the list.
Note: Chapter teams cannot change these limits. Ask your headquarters admin if a published event is still missing.
If the Upcoming events section is missing from the homepage, contact your Customer Success Manager.
