On communities with more than one language, pick a display language from the site header before you sign in, keep that choice when you log in, or set it any time from Settings & privacy. On single sign-on (SSO) communities, a language you choose in Bevy stays saved — a later SSO login does not overwrite it.
Your display language is the language of the site interface — menus, buttons, and Bevy-generated copy. Communities can enable more than one language. When they do, you can choose which language you want to see.
This page is for visitors, attendees, and members. It covers the header language control, the keep-language prompt after login, and the Language tab in Settings & privacy. For other profile and privacy steps, see Edit your profile and privacy settings.
Note: Language controls appear only when your community offers more than one language and has turned on account language preferences. If you do not see a language menu or a Language tab, contact a community admin.
Pick a language before you sign in
When you are not signed in, you can still choose a language from the site header. Your choice applies for that browser visit until you change it or sign in.
- Open the community site while logged out.
- In the site header, open the language control (often a language name or code next to a translate or globe icon).
- Select the language you want.
- Wait for the page to reload in that language.
Tip: The header control only appears when the community offers more than one language. On smaller screens, open the mobile menu to find the same control.
Keep that language after you sign in
If you picked a language while logged out, and that language is different from the language already saved on your account, Bevy can ask once after you sign in whether to keep it.
- Sign in (email and password, or single sign-on when your community uses it).
- If a banner appears with a message like Keep browsing in …?, choose:
- Keep — save that language to your account and continue in it.
- No thanks — leave your account language unchanged and dismiss the banner.
| If you select | What happens |
|---|---|
| Keep | Bevy saves that language to your account and reloads the site in it |
| No thanks | Bevy keeps your account language as it is and dismisses the prompt for this login |
Note: The keep-language prompt appears once per login when you have a logged-out pick that differs from your account. Answering either way clears the prompt for that login. If you do not see a banner, your account already matches the language you were viewing, or your community has not enabled this preference.
Choose or change language when signed in
When you are signed in, you can set or change your display language from the header or from Settings & privacy. Both save the choice to your account.
From the site header
- In the site header, open the language control.
- Select a language. The change saves when you select it, and the page reloads in that language.
From Settings & privacy
- Sign in, then open your profile menu in the upper-right corner.
- Select Settings & privacy.
- Open the Language tab.
- Choose a language from the list. The change saves when you select it — there is no separate Save button on this tab.
- Optional: choose Use site default to clear your saved preference and follow the community default again.
Help text on the Language tab: Choose the language you want to see across the site. This is saved to your account.
Note: Display language is not on the Edit profile form. Use Settings & privacy → Language, or the header control. For photo, privacy, and delete-account steps, see Edit your profile and privacy settings.
Single sign-on (SSO) communities
On communities that use single sign-on (SSO), you can still choose your display language in Bevy the same way — from the header or from Settings & privacy → Language.
- A language you set in Bevy is saved to your account.
- A later SSO login does not overwrite a language you chose yourself.
- If you never set a language in Bevy, your community may still apply a language from your identity provider when one is sent.
For how to sign in with SSO, see Sign-in with single sign-on (SSO).
