Leave a chapter from that chapter’s page after you confirm. Leaving ends membership and chapter newsletters for that group. It does not cancel event tickets or delete your account.
Chapter is Bevy’s default designation for a local or topical membership group on the community site. Your community may use a different designation — for example group, club, or hub. The steps on this page are the same; follow the leave control on that group’s page. You can belong to more than one chapter. Leaving one does not remove you from the others or delete your account.
Use this page when you want to end membership in a chapter. If you only want to stop emails and stay a member, see Unsubscribe from a newsletter instead.
Note: Communities can customize designations and button labels in Style settings. You may see a different word for chapter, and the leave control may say Leave, Leave Chapter, or similar wording. The control appears on the chapter (or renamed group) page for signed-in members — not on Profile → Updates.
Leave from the chapter page
You must be signed in with the same account that joined the chapter.
- Open the chapter page for the chapter you want to leave.
- Find the membership control for members:
- On many chapter pages, the button that said Join now says Leave.
- Some pages show a member bar with Leave Chapter (or your community’s customized label).
- Select Leave (or Leave Chapter).
- In the confirmation dialog, select Leave (or OK on some pages). Select Cancel if you want to stay a member.
When leave succeeds, you see a short confirmation such as You’ve left this chapter. The page then offers Join again (or Request to Join, if the chapter requires an application).
Important: Leaving a chapter ends your membership for that chapter. To join again later, use Join (or Request to Join) on the chapter page. Invite-only or application-required chapters may not let you rejoin without a new invite or approval.
What changes when you leave
| Item | After you leave |
|---|---|
| Chapter membership | Ended for that chapter. You are no longer listed as a current member. |
| Chapter newsletters and chapter mailing lists | You are removed from that chapter’s general email list. You should stop receiving that chapter’s newsletters. |
| Chapter discussions (when enabled) | Member-only discussion actions for that chapter are no longer available until you join again. |
| Event tickets for that chapter’s events | Not cancelled. Existing registrations stay on your account. Manage tickets separately from My tickets. |
| Your community account | Unchanged. You stay signed up for the community and for any other chapters you did not leave. |
| System emails | Still arrive when relevant (for example ticket confirmations, refunds, and password resets). See System emails. |
Leave vs stop emails only
| Goal | Where to go | Result |
|---|---|---|
| End chapter membership | Chapter page → Leave / Leave Chapter → confirm | Membership ends; chapter newsletters for that chapter stop |
| Stop newsletters but stay a member | Email footer Unsubscribe, or Profile → Updates → turn off the chapter list → save | You remain a member; only mailing-list preference changes |
On Profile → Updates, you can see your chapters and turn mailing lists on or off. That stops emails only — you stay a member. To leave the chapter, open the chapter page and select Leave.
Tip: If you left by mistake, open the chapter page and select Join again while signed in. If the chapter is invite-only or requires an application, follow the Request to Join or invite path for that chapter.
If you cannot find Leave
- Confirm you are signed in with the account that joined the chapter.
- Open that chapter’s own page (not the community homepage alone, unless Leave is placed there for your community).
- If you only see Join or Request to Join, you are not currently a member of that chapter with this account.
- If you are a chapter organizer or team member and need to leave the team role (not just membership), contact your community admins — team roles are managed separately from the member Leave control.
