Learn how to remove an Enterprise Forums discussion while keeping its replies available, remove the full thread, and restore removed content.
Removing a published post is reversible. You can keep its comments and nested replies visible, or remove the full reply tree with the post. Removing a post does not delete the author’s account.
You need a forum role with permission to archive posts. The default Volunteer, Moderator, and Forum Admin roles have this permission. When that permission and post removal are available, the three-dot menu shows Remove (not Delete) on a published discussion.
Note: These steps are for Enterprise Forums discussions. Chapter and event page discussions use a related Remove and Restore flow — see Manage and moderate chapter and event discussions. Bulk Remove from the moderation queue is a different action and is covered in Review multiple posts at once.
Remove and restore posts
Remove a post
- Open the discussion.
- Select the three-dot menu on the original post.
- Select Remove.
- In the Remove post dialog, leave Remove all replies unchecked to keep comments and nested replies available, or select it to remove the entire reply tree.
- Optional: Add an Internal note (optional). This note is visible only to people with the appropriate moderation permission. For more on notes, see About archive notes.
- If author notifications are available, add a Note to author (optional). The note is included in the notification and is not saved on the post.
- If you selected Remove all replies, choose whether to Notify reply authors. If notifications and notes are available, you can also add a Note to reply authors (optional).
- Select Remove.
After the action completes, Bevy displays Post removed.
What members see

If Remove all replies is selected, members cannot open the removed discussion. People with permission to archive posts can still open it, view the original content and internal note, and restore it. They cannot add new replies or react to the removed original post.
Note for moderators: On a removed post you can open, Bevy shows who removed it when that information is available — for example Archived on [date] by [name]. If the name is unavailable (for example a system action or a deleted account), the message shows the date only. An internal note, if one was saved, appears below that message.
Restore a post
- Open the removed discussion.
- Select Restore from the three-dot menu on the original post, or select Restore on the archived banner.
- In the Restore post dialog, select Restore all replies if the replies were removed with the post.
- Select Restore.
After the action completes, Bevy displays Post restored., and the discussion returns to the category feed. Restoring a post does not restore a previous category or homepage pin.
Note: A person with a lower moderation rank cannot restore a post removed by someone with a higher rank. This follows the same moderation role hierarchy described earlier in this article.

Common questions
Does removing a post delete the author?
No. The author’s account and attribution remain unless the account is deleted separately.
Can people keep commenting after I leave the replies visible?
No. Members can read and interact with kept replies, but they cannot add new replies anywhere in the discussion.
Who can remove and restore posts?
Anyone whose forum role includes permission to archive posts. By default, this includes Volunteers, Moderators, and Forum Admins. Moderation rank can limit who can reverse another person’s action.
What if I only want to remove one reply?
Select Remove from that comment’s menu. Removing one comment does not remove the rest of the discussion.
