Create badges for member achievements

Create badges in Discussions Manage to recognize members who reach milestones, build streaks, hit a score, or earn other badges. Members see earned badges on their profile and Rewards tab.

Badges recognize what members accomplish in your community. Each badge has an image and a rule that decides when a member earns it. Earned badges appear on the member's profile, the Rewards tab, hover cards, and the chat sidebar.

Note: The Badges page appears under Manage only when gamification Manage tools are enabled for your community. If you do not see it, contact Contact Bevy Support or your Customer Success Manager.

Create a badge

  1. Open Enterprise Forums or Discussions and select Manage in the sidebar.
  2. Select Badges, then select New Badge.
  3. Enter a Name and a Description that tells members how to earn it.
  4. Upload the badge image. An image is required.
  5. Add a condition and choose its rule type (see the table below).
  6. Set Status to Active.
  7. Select Save.

Choose a rule type

Rule type Use it to reward… Fields to complete
Action count A number of actions, such as a first post or ten replies. Action type, Required count; optional Rate limit count and Period.
Streak Repeating an action across consecutive days, weeks, or months. Action type, Streak length, Period.
Score achieved Reaching a point total from a scoring system. Score source, Score threshold; choose a Score definition for an individual score.
Prior badges Earning one or more other badges first. Prerequisite achievements, and Match (all or any).

Tip: Set Required count to 1 for single-action badges such as "First post."

Limit which events count

For every rule type except Prior badges, you can use Only count matching events to narrow what counts. For example, count only posts in one forum. Add a Metadata field, an operator, and a value. Without a filter, every event of that action type counts.

Edit or delete a badge

On the Badges page, the list shows each badge's name, trigger type, trigger detail, and status. Select Edit to update a badge, or Delete to remove it. Deleting a badge cannot be undone.

Note: Members earn badges automatically from their activity. Members cannot choose which badges appear in the highlighted area of their profile. To adjust which badges are eligible for that area, contact Contact Bevy Support.

What members see

Members find earned badges on their profile and Rewards tab, where badges are grouped as In progress, Unlocked, and All rewards.
