Create a scoring system in Discussions Manage to award points for community actions such as posting, replying, and attending events. Leaderboards and member profiles use these points.
A scoring system tells Bevy how many points members earn for each action. Members see their total on their profile, and Leaderboards rank members by score.
Note: The Scoring System page appears under Manage only when gamification Manage tools are enabled for your community. If you do not see it, contact Contact Bevy Support or your Customer Success Manager.
Before you begin
- Decide which actions you want to reward, such as posting, replying, or attending events.
- Choose a point value for each action. Higher values signal what matters most to your community.
Create a scoring system
- Open Enterprise Forums or Discussions and select Manage in the sidebar.
- Select Scoring System, then select New Score System.
- Enter a Name and, optionally, a Description.
- Set Status to Active so points are awarded.
- Add a condition for each action you want to reward. Choose an Action type and enter the Awarded points.
- Optional: set a Rate limit count and Period (Day, Week, or Month) to cap how often one member earns points for that action. Enter 0 for no limit.
- Leave Counts towards total score selected if the points should appear in member totals and leaderboards.
- Select Save.
Common action types
| Action type | Awards points when… |
|---|---|
| Login | A member signs in. |
| Post creation | A member starts a discussion. |
| Reply to a discussion | A member replies to a discussion. |
| Get a reply to your discussion | Someone replies to a member's discussion. |
| Reaction received in your post | Someone reacts to a member's post. |
| RSVP to an event / Attend (check in to) an event | A member registers for or checks in to an event. |
Tip: Use a Rate limit count on easy-to-repeat actions such as Login so one member cannot climb the leaderboard with a single behavior.
Edit or turn off a scoring system
On the Scoring System page, select Edit next to a scoring system to change its name, conditions, or points. Set Status to Inactive to stop awarding points from that system.
Important: Awarded points accepts negative numbers, which subtract points. Double-check each value before you save so members are not penalized by mistake.
Leaderboards and staff accounts
Leaderboards use your scores automatically. There is no separate screen to create a leaderboard. If you want staff accounts excluded from rankings, contact Contact Bevy Support or your Customer Success Manager.
