A client staff badge helps you identify official company or community staff members in forum conversations. When a community enables this feature, verified staff accounts display a custom icon and optional label near their username.
What a staff badge looks like
A staff badge is a small icon that appears next to a user’s display name in forum discussions. Depending on how the community has configured the badge, it may also include a short label such as Etsy Staff. The badge can appear to the left or right of the username depending on the community’s settings.
Where you can see staff badges
Staff badges appear in the following places in your community:
- Next to the author’s name on discussion posts
- Next to the author’s name on comments
- On hover profile cards when you select a user’s name
- In discussion list cards (icon only)
- In blog author summaries
- In leaderboard rows (icon only)
What a staff badge means
A staff badge indicates that the user’s account has been recognized as official company or community staff by the community administrators. Staff badge eligibility is based on a verified email address that matches the community’s configured staff email domain or approved email list.
The staff badge is separate from discussion roles such as Admin, Moderator, and Original Poster. It is also separate from any ranks or badges earned through community activity.
Not all communities have the staff badge feature enabled. If you dot not see badges in a community, that community may not have enabled the feature.
