The staff member badge feature lets you display a custom icon and optional label next to the names of official company or community staff in your Enterprise Forums. Use this setting to help community members identify trusted voices in discussions.
Enabling and configuring staff badges requires assistance from Bevy Support or your Customer Success Manager (CSM). this article explains what to expect from the feature and what information to include in your request.
About staff member badges
A staff member badge is a custom icon that appears near a forum member's username to indicate that they are a verified employee or representative of your organization. You can also add an optional text label alongside the icon, for example "Acme Support" or "Etsy Staff".
Staff member badges are distinct from other forum indicators:
- Forum role labels — labels like Admin, Moderator, or Original Poster reflect a member's role in the forum and are separate from the staff badge.
- Gamification badges — rank or achievement badges earned through community activity are not related to the staff badge.
- Member titles — a separate feature for displaying titles beneath usernames. This feature is not yet available.
Where staff badges appear
When a staff badge is enabled, Bevy displays it across forum surfaces. The icon and label appear in the following locations:
- Post author blocks
- Comment author blocks
- Hover profile cards
- Blog author summaries
In compact surfaces, such as discussion list cards and leaderboard rows, Bevy shows the badge icon only. In fuller identity surfaces, such as post author blocks and hover cards, both the icon and the label are visible.
Badge display on member profile pages is not yet available.
How staff eligibility works
Bevy determines which community members receive a staff badge based on the email configuration you provide. A member's badge appears when their account email matches one of the following:
- A staff email domain — all accounts with a matching email domain receive the badge, for example everyone at acme.com.
- A specific staff email address — individual accounts added to an explicit email list receive the badge regardless of domain.
By default, Bevy only shows the staff badge when the matching email address has been verified by the member. If your community does not enforce email verification, let Bevy Support or your CSM know when you submit your request, and they can disable that requirement for your instance.
Request staff badge setup
Because staff badges are configured at the instance level, you must contact Bevy Support or your CSM to enable and set up this feature. To get started, submit a request through your usual support channel and include the following information:
Required
- Staff badge icon — attach your badge image file. Bevy supports standard image formats.
- Staff email domains or addresses — provide the email domain (for example, acme.com), a list of specific email addresses, or both.
Optional
- Staff badge label — a short text label displayed next to the icon on fuller surfaces, for example "Acme Staff".
- Badge position — choose whether the badge appears to the right of the username (default) or to the left.
- Icon sizing and spacing — specify custom height, aspect ratio, or spacing if the defaults do not fit your community's design.
- Verified email requirement — let your CSM or Bevy Support know if your community does not require email verification and you want to disable that prerequisite.
What community members see
Community members see the staff badge automatically next to eligible members' names on posts, comments, hover cards, and other forum surfaces. No action is required from members to display or view the badge.
Members can use the badge to quickly identify who is an official representative of your organization when reading discussions, asking questions, or reviewing responses.
