This article covers tools that hosts have during an event to moderate chat and other attendee features
Who can moderate an event?
If you are a Chapter team member, you have moderation controls by default. Alternatively, hosts can promote other attendees to host during the event.
Moderation in Session off-stage
The moderation options for these kinds of sessions are equal to Bevy Virtual Meetup. You can check them here.
Moderation in Session on-stage
A subset of the session off-stage can be applied during an on-stage session. The primary distinction pertains to the microphone and camera controls, which are inaccessible during an on-stage session due to their management in the Backstage.
Remove an attendee from the event
- Within the event, click the Attendees tab.
- Click the drop-down arrow next to the attendee's name.
- Select Remove from event to ban the attendee from your event.
Upon removal from the event, participants will receive a message informing them of this situation, such as the image below. This task can't be reverted for the event, but will only last for 24 hours.
Delete a chat message
Hosts/moderators may delete any messages except those from other hosts/moderators.
Attendees can only delete their messages.
- Open the menu for the message you want to delete.
- Click Delete, and then confirm the change.
Block chats for an attendee
As a host/moderator, you can block an attendee from sending messages for 24 hours, either from the chat or the participant list.
To block from the chat:
- Open the menu of a message sent by the person you want to block.
- Select Block chat.
To block from the participants list:
- Open the menu of the participant you intend to block chat for.
- Select Block chat.
When the attendee has the chat blocked, they will see an unauthorized message when posting a new message to the chat
The Unblock chat option can be found in the participants list for the target participant to unblock the chat.
About profanity filtering
The platform includes filtering for typical profanity in English and select words in other languages. If an attendee submits a message with inappropriate words in it, the system immediately deletes the message. The user's message will instantly disappear.
