Follow these best practices to prepare for and deliver a strong presentation in Bevy Virtual Conference.
Prepare for your session
Before your session:
- Set cameras to landscape orientation so speakers display properly in the event and the recording. Place phones and tablets in landscape, not portrait, so the speaker isn't cut off. Bevy's default video display is landscape.
- Use an up-to-date Chrome browser.
- Invest in lighting, such as a small ring light, for better visibility.
- Wear solid colors to avoid distracting patterns on screen.
- Appoint a chat moderator before your session, and agree on how to handle audience questions.
- If you use the Q&A feature, coordinate timing with the host or moderator, and announce it to the audience during the session.
During your session
While you present:
- Join 15 minutes early to test your audio and video.
- Place slides or notes below your camera to keep eye contact with the lens.
- Slow down and pause between sentences, since online audio differs from in-person.
- Use visible hand gestures as nonverbal cues to build trust.
- If you use pre-recorded content, use chat, Q&A, and pinned chat to engage attendees.
