This article explains how hosts start, moderate, and end question and answers (Q&A) in a Bevy Virtual Meetup session, and how to use Private Q&A to limit who can see each question.
Start Q&A
To start Q&A:
- Join the Bevy Virtual Meetup session as a host or moderator.
- Select Q&A in the bottom menu bar.
- Select Start Q&A.
Attendees receive a notification when Q&A opens. Only hosts and moderators can start Q&A. Ask the presenter to announce that Q&A is open, and post a short note in general chat.

Moderate questions
Select a question to show the host tools. The live labels are:
- Dismiss—hide the question from attendees. Hosts can restore a dismissed question.
- Answer live—mark the question as answered verbally. A date and time stamp is added, and the question moves to the answered list.
- Reply—answer in text. A date and time stamp is added, and the question moves to the answered list.
Q&A does not automatically move new questions to the top. Select Sort to refresh the list by newest or most voted.
Unanswered question limit
A session can have up to 300 unanswered questions at once. When that limit is reached, attendees cannot ask new questions and see the message “There are too many unanswered questions.” Asking is available again after the unanswered count drops to 295 or below—that is, after you answer, dismiss, or otherwise clear at least five questions.
End Q&A
To end Q&A:
- In the Q&A panel, select Finish.
- Confirm when prompted.
Previously asked questions will remain visible in the Q&A panel unless Q&A reopens during the event.
All data can be accessed in post-event reports.
Use Private Q&A
Private Q&A lets attendees ask questions that only hosts and moderators can see, along with the person who asked. Use it when you want to reduce the chance that someone shares personally identifiable information (PII) in a public list.
For tighter control, also select Disable chat on the event.
When Private Q&A is on:
- Hosts and moderators see every question.
- Each attendee sees only their own questions.
- Answer live and Reply still work. The answer stays visible only to the host or moderator and the attendee who asked.
Turn on Private Q&A when you create or edit the event:
- Create or open a virtual event.
- For Select virtual event platform, choose the Bevy Virtual Meetup option.
- Select Private Q&A.
- Publish or save the event.
