Create a hidden test event so you can walk through the Bevy Virtual Meetup (BVM) experience before your live session. 

A test event lets you check audio, video, screen share, questions and answers (Q&A), and chat without sending announcements to members. Hide the event on public pages, set the start time to now, publish it, then join as a host.

Create the test event

To create the test event:

1. From the chapter dashboard, create a new event.
2. Select Virtual as the event venue.

3. Select Bevy Virtual as the virtual platform (not an external URL).
4. Set the start time to your current date, time, and time zone so you can join immediately.
5. Hide the event using one of these options:
   • Select Test Event to auto-hide the event. This also selects Hide this event on public pages.
   • Select Hide this event on public pages to hide only the listing. Leave Allow automated emails unchecked unless you need them.
6. The ticket modal will default to one ticket type and 1000 virtual tickets. Add any additional tickets and adjust the quantity available, if needed. Learn more about Event Ticketing Configuration and Management.

7. Select Publish.

Join the test session

To join the test session:

1. Open the event page and register yourself with a ticket.
2. To join as a host before the public Join window, use the Virtual join link for hosts on the event edit page, or the link in the ticket confirmation email or calendar invite.
3. The Join button on the event page is available to attendees starting 15 minutes before the start time. Because you set the start time to now, that button also works after you register.
4. Send the event page URL to anyone helping you test. They must register before they can join.

About test events and analytics

A test event is excluded from your analytics, so anything you do while testing does not affect your reporting.
