Update your profile details and photo, choose your display language when your community offers it, turn Public profile on or off when eligible, or schedule account deletion from Settings & privacy.
Use your signed-in profile menu to change the details and photo on your public profile page, choose your display language when your community offers it, control whether that page is public, or schedule deletion of your account. Communities can customize which fields appear and whether language, privacy, or self-deletion is available.
Note: Community admins configure who can have public profile pages in the Admin Dashboard. If you administer a community, see Configure user account settings. This article covers member and attendee steps only.
Edit your profile
Open Edit profile to change the information that appears on your profile page, including your photo when the community allows it.
- Sign in, then open your profile menu in the upper-right corner (your photo or name).
- Select Profile.
- Select Edit profile.
- Update the fields you want to change. Communities often include name, company, title, about me, email, website, location, timezone, social links, and interests.
- Select Save.
Tip: If Edit profile is missing, your community may manage profiles through a separate sign-in provider. Use the link your community provides, or contact a community admin. Display language is still available under Settings & privacy when your community offers it (see below) — it is not on the Edit profile form.
Change your profile picture
Your profile picture appears in events (including conferences), comments, and on your profile page. Upload it on the same Edit profile page as your other details — then save the form.
- Open Edit profile as described above.
- Next to the preview labelled Avatar (some communities say Profile picture), select Upload.
- Choose a PNG, JPG, GIF, or WEBP image, then select Open.
- Select Save.
Use a square photo. The site center-crops the image to a square, so a wide or tall picture may cut off faces or edges. There is no in-app cropper for the profile picture, and no control to remove a photo after you upload one — uploading a new image replaces the previous one. If the site says the image is too large, choose a smaller file.
Note: If Edit profile is available but you do not see Upload next to a photo preview, your community has turned off profile photo uploads. A banner control can still appear on the same page. Contact a community admin if you need a change.
Some communities also show a Banner on this page. Select Choose a banner image or Change banner, pick a PNG, JPG, GIF, or WEBP file, drag the image to set the crop, then select Save.
Choose your display language
When your community offers it, you set the language for the site UI from Settings & privacy. The choice is saved to your account. On single sign-on (SSO) communities, a later SSO login does not overwrite a language you chose here.
- Sign in, then open your profile menu in the upper-right corner.
- Select Settings & privacy.
- Open the Language tab.
- Choose a language from the list. The change saves when you select it — there is no separate Save button on this tab.
- Optional: choose Use site default to clear your saved preference and follow the community default again.
Note: If you do not see a Language tab, your community has not enabled account language preferences. Contact a community admin.
Make your profile private or public
When your community allows it, you choose whether other people can find and open your profile page.
- Sign in, then open your profile menu in the upper-right corner.
- Select Settings & privacy.
- Open the Account privacy tab.
- Turn Public profile on or off:
- On — your profile is searchable and viewable on the site.
- Off — your profile is private. It is not searchable, and only you and site admins can view it.
- Select Save. A confirmation appears when the save succeeds.
| What you see | What it usually means |
|---|---|
| Account privacy tab with Public profile | Your community has enabled public profile pages for a role you qualify for (for example all members, chapter team, attendees, featured attendees, or writers), and your account is active |
| No Account privacy tab | Public profiles are not available for your account on this community, or the community has turned off the privacy controls. Contact a community admin if you need a change |
Turning Public profile off does not delete your account, cancel event tickets, or remove chapter membership.
Delete your account
Account deletion is scheduled with a short delay so you can cancel if you change your mind. Most communities use a seven-day delay; the confirmation screen shows the number of days for your community.
- Sign in, then open your profile menu in the upper-right corner.
- Select Settings & privacy.
- Open the Delete account tab.
- Select Delete account.
- Confirm in the dialog. If prompted, enter your password, then select Delete account again. If you sign in with SSO only, you may not be asked for a password.
After you confirm, the page shows the scheduled deletion date. Select Cancel deletion before that date if you want to keep the account.
Important: After the delay ends, deletion is permanent. You will need a new account to use the community again — see Create a new account.
Note: If you do not see Delete account, your community has disabled self-service deletion. Contact a community admin or Bevy Support.
