As an update on this, Bevy Engineering has submitted a change for the most critical parts of the platform that were affected by this. But the issue could still be happening on other pages, so the recommendation is still to upgrade to the latest version of Chrome

After updating to Chrome version 124.0.6367.79, the error no longer appears 🎉

The Chrome version 124.0.6367.61 introduced a bug for the dropdowns on the page. Note that any dropdown in any website is susceptible to suffering this issue, not only Bevy's

The issue affected the dropdowns with aria accessible enabled, causing a stack overflow on the browser (Aw, Snap Error code: STATUS_STACK_OVERFLOW) error you see on the screen.

This was a random error in our test, on the Bevy platform, where it happened randomly, sometimes every time, and sometimes it worked after a fresh load. In any case, there are steps to reproduce this consistently in the bug report https://issues.chromium.org/issues/335553723.

The fix was introduced today in the Chrome version 124.0.6367.79.
