Turn on event cohosting for your community in Admin Settings, then mark an individual event as cohosted from the Cohost tab so other chapters can collaborate.
Applies to: Only HQ admins can turn on cohosting for the community. If organizers do not see a Cohost tab on an event, ask Community HQ to enable Enable event cohosting in Admin Settings.
Before you begin
Event cohosting has two layers:
- HQ enables cohosting for the community.
- An organizer (or admin with event edit access) marks a specific event as cohosted.
Until both are done, other chapters cannot collaborate on that event.
| Role | Can do | Cannot do |
|---|---|---|
| HQ admin | Enable or disable cohosting for the whole community in Admin Settings (Enable event cohosting). | N/A for the community toggle—admins also manage events like organizers when they have event permissions. |
| Chapter organizer (with permission to edit events) | Open the event Cohost tab and select Make this a cohosted event after community cohosting is on. | Turn on cohosting for the whole community. That setting lives only in Admin Settings. |
Enable cohosting for your community
HQ admins turn on cohosting once for the whole community. When the setting is on, organizers can use the Cohost tab on Draft and Published events.
- Open the Admin Dashboard.
- In the left navigation, select Settings.
- On the General tab, find Enable event cohosting.
- Select the checkbox to turn cohosting on (or clear it to turn cohosting off).
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and select Save Settings.
Turning the setting off removes cohosting capability across the community until you enable it again.
Make an event cohosted
After community cohosting is enabled, host-chapter organizers with permission to edit the event can mark that event as cohosted.
- In the chapter dashboard, open the event.
- Select the Cohost tab.
- Select Make this a cohosted event.
A success message confirms the change. Helper text under the checkbox explains that this allows other chapters to collaborate.
Tip: Selecting or clearing Make this a cohosted event saves immediately. You do not need a separate Save button on the Cohost tab.
Important: You can enable cohosting on a draft event, but other chapters should collaborate only after the event is published. Bevy does not support collaboration on unpublished events.
After you make an event cohosted
When the checkbox is selected, the Cohost tab shows collaborators and tools to add or share the event:
- HQ admins can add collaborators (including all chapters) from the Cohost tab.
- Organizers can copy and share the cohost event link so other organizers can join as collaborators from the public event page.
Note: You cannot turn off Make this a cohosted event while collaborators are still listed. Remove all collaborators first, then clear the checkbox.
For sharing, collaborator roles, registration, and email rules, see the full guide: Cohosted events.
