Add up to five extra links to the menu that opens from a signed-in person's avatar. Each link needs a label and an address that starts with http:// or https://.
People see the links after they sign in, in the menu that opens from their avatar. Each link opens in a new browser tab and sits above Log out. The links are part of that menu only.
Open Navigation
- Open the Admin Dashboard.
- In the left sidebar, select Settings.
- Select General.
- Open Navigation.
The page title is General Settings. Navigation has one control, User menu links.
Add a link
- Select Add link.
- In Link text, type the words people see in the menu.
- In the address box, enter a full URL. It must start with http:// or https://. The box shows https://example.com/help as a sample.
- Select Save Settings.
- Confirm Are you sure you want to save these settings?
After the save, the page says The settings were saved. Links appear in the menu in the same order as the rows, from top to bottom.
Note: A row needs both a label and a URL. If either box is empty, that row is left out when you save.
Important: An address that does not start with http:// or https:// is rejected, and General Settings does not save. That includes a site path with no domain, such as /events/, and an email address.
| Limit | What is allowed |
|---|---|
| How many links | 5 |
| Label | 60 characters |
| URL | 300 characters |
| Address | Must start with http:// or https:// |
See the links in the menu
Sign in, then open the menu from your avatar. The links sit above Log out, after Profile and Settings & privacy when those items are shown.
A long label is shortened with an ellipsis. Point at the label to read the full text.
Change or remove a link
Edit the label or the URL in the row, then select Save Settings and confirm.
Select Remove on a row to take that link out, then save again so the menu updates.
At five links, Add link is unavailable and the page says You can add up to 5 links. Remove a row when you want to add a different one. Remove every row and save when you want the menu to go back to its usual items.
