Your chapter team role controls what you can open and change for this chapter. It is separate from the title on your team card. Headquarters chooses the roles and what each one can do.
Your chapter team role is the set of permissions headquarters assigned you for this chapter. On Team, your card under Team Members shows your name, your title, and your role. The title is the public label on the chapter page and on event pages. The role is what you can open and change.
The Chapter Dashboard hides areas and buttons your role cannot use. You can give someone a role that already exists. You do not create roles, and you do not change what a role is allowed to do.
Find your role
- Open your chapter in the Chapter Dashboard.
- Select Settings, then Team.
- Find your card under Team Members. The role name is under your title.
Note: If Settings is missing, your role cannot view chapter settings, so you also cannot open Team. If Settings is there and Team is missing, your role cannot view the chapter team. Ask someone who can assign chapter roles, or ask your HQ admin.
When a menu or button is missing
A missing item means that step is not included in the role on your card. It does not mean the feature is gone for the chapter.
| You don't see | What that means |
|---|---|
| Analytics | Your role cannot view chapter analytics. |
| Members | Your role cannot view chapter members. |
| Settings | Your role cannot view chapter settings. |
| Team, under Settings | Your role cannot view the chapter team. |
| Sponsors | Your role cannot edit chapter sponsors, or sponsors and partners are both off for the community. |
| Add Team Member, Edit, or Remove | Your role cannot do that step. The other actions can still be there. |
Home, Events, and Emails stay in the left navigation. A button inside those areas can still be hidden. Media Library appears when that feature is on for the community. External API appears for administrators.
To add someone, change their title, role, or visibility, remove them, or reorder the cards, see Chapter Team Members.
Assign a role that already exists
When your role can add or edit a team member, Role lists the roles headquarters created. Each option shows the role name, then the description headquarters wrote. Pick one of those roles. Saving does not change what the role can do.
Important: Some roles are reserved for an admin to assign. Those roles are left off the list. If Save is declined after you choose a role, or you cannot edit or remove someone who already holds a reserved role, ask an admin. See About reserved chapter roles.
Tip: Headquarters creates chapter team roles and chooses their permissions. See About role management and permissions.
