In a Bevy Virtual webinar, hover your own video and select Hide name tag and speaking indicator. Your name, the speaking border, and the microphone icon disappear for everyone in the room. The control is there when you are the only presenter, or while you are sharing your screen. Nothing has to be turned on for the community first.
The same control is in webinar rooms on Bevy Virtual Meetup and Bevy Virtual Conference. You change it on your own video. A host cannot hide someone else’s name tag. Use it when a virtual camera or other full-frame video should fill the stage without your name on top of it.
Note: You need Presenter mode in that webinar. If you do not see your video on stage, ask a host or moderator to promote you. See Promote or remove a presenter in webinar mode.
Hide your name tag
- Join the webinar and confirm your video is on stage. You must be the only presenter, or you must be sharing your screen. See the table below.
- Hover your video. At the top right, select Hide name tag and speaking indicator. It is the eye icon beside Enter picture in picture and Enter full screen.
Everyone in the webinar then sees your video without:
- Your name
- The blue border that appears while you are speaking
- The microphone icon, whether you are muted or unmuted
Select Hide name tag and speaking indicator again to show them. While they are hidden, the icon is an open eye.
When the control is available
| What is on stage | What you can do |
|---|---|
| You are the only presenter | The control is on your video. Everyone in the room sees the video without your name, speaking border, or microphone icon. |
| You are sharing your screen | The control is on the large shared screen, including when other presenters are in the room. You can hide the name tag on that screen. The smaller videos of people still show names. |
| Two or more presenters, and nobody is sharing a screen | The control is not on the video. If you had hidden your name tag, it shows again. |
Note: A raised-hand indicator on your video stays visible. On a shared screen, the smaller videos beside the stage still show name tags.
When your name tag comes back
- You select Hide name tag and speaking indicator again.
- You refresh the page, or you leave and rejoin. The choice is not saved for the next time you join.
- Another presenter joins the stage and nobody is sharing a screen.
Important: The event recording and a live stream still show your name tag, speaking border, and microphone icon. Hiding them changes what people see in the webinar room only.
