Attend a conference
When the app is available for your organization, you need to download the application for your conference. Contact your organizer for the link to download.
You can only attend a conference on one device at a time, so make sure you haven't joined on your computer before joining on your mobile device.
Depending what kind of device you're viewing the conference on, the following system requirements apply:
- iOS 12 and above
- Android 5.0 and above
After you download the app for your conference, log in to your account.
You must have an account to use the app. If you need to create an account, create one on your community site. You can't create a new account in the app.
Home
After you log in, you see the Home page when you open the application.
The home page has three main areas:
- Event menu
- Sessions
- Navigation
The Bevy conference app can be customized based on the needs of your organization. This means that you could have different navigation options.
Event menu
Open the event menu to view your event guide, access help, and log out.
The event guide shows different parts of the conference that you can access, for example:
- Agenda
- Attendees
- Chat
- DMs
- Survey
- Community
- Code of conduct
Sessions
In the Sessions area you can:
- View different sessions at a glance including:
Happening Now—current sessions that have already started
Up Next—sessions starting in the next two hours
My sessions—sessions you added to your agenda - Add a session to your agenda
Navigation
Tap the navigation options to go between:
- Home—overview of the event
- Agenda—full event agenda organized by day and time
- Chat—event chat that isn't specific to a session
- Attendees—view all the attendees in the event and send them DMs
Agenda
Go to the Agenda to view all the sessions for the event. This is also where you can access your agenda, which is a list of sessions you have selected.
Use the search and filter to narrow down the results. When you find a session you're interested in you can tap on it to see more details and, if the session is live, join.
You can join a session up to 15 minutes before the start time.
Session
When you view a session, there are three main areas of the screen:
- Controls—see if a session is live, minimize the screen, or close the session
- Content—view and use the chat or Q&A for the session
- Navigation—change between the chat and Q&A for the session
Controls
Close a session by tapping the X in the top right corner. When you close a session you're taken back to the previous screen.
Minimize the session video so that you can explore the rest of the conference without missing anything. When you minimize the session, the audio and video continue playing and you can control the location of the video. The image below shows a minimized session video over the event chat.
If you're using an Android device you can keep watching the video while you use other apps. If you're using an iOS device you can keep listening to the audio while you use other apps.
Q&A
Just like attending a Bevy conference on your desktop you can participate in Q&A on your mobile device.
In the Q&A you can:
- Ask questions
- View answers
- Vote for other questions
- Sort questions by vote
Event chat
Talk with other attendees in the event chat by sending a message.
If you sent the wrong thing tap and hold your message to copy or delete it. You can also react to your own messages (if that's your thing). Tap and hold on other attendee's messages to add an emoji reaction or to copy the message text.
.
Attendees and chat
See who else is attending an event on the Attendees list. From here you can tap the message icon to send an attendee a direct message.
You can send any attendee a DM. If you've already exchanged messages, they'll display here.
Networking tables
View and join different networking tables to connect with other attendees.
Tap Join to enter a networking table.
In the networking table you can:
- View table information
This includes things like how many people are at the table or the table details. - View people at the table
While your video always displays first, you can swipe to see other participants. - Participate and navigate
Enable and disable your audio and video, view a list of people at the table, engage in the chat, or leave the table.
After a conference
Just because the conference is over doesn't mean your access ends. Depending on your organization, conference content could still be available in the app after the conference.
