If your forum categories display low or zero member and discussion counts, those numbers can make your community appear less active than it is. You can request that Bevy Support or your Customer Success Manager (CSM) hide these counts—on specific categories or across your entire forum.
Before you start
Before submitting your request, confirm the following:
- You are an HQ Admin for your community.
- You know which counts you want to hide and where (see the options below).
About member and discussion counts
By default, two numbers appear on each forum category card and at the top of each category page:
- Member count—the number of people subscribed to that category.
- Discussion count—the number of discussions posted in that category.
These numbers appear on category cards on the main forum page and on the header of each individual category page.
Hiding these counts does not delete any data. The numbers still exist and remain visible in your admin dashboard-only public-facing display is affected. You can request to turn them back on at any time.
Choose what you want to hide
Before you reach out to Support or your CSM, decide which option matches your goal. You may choose more than one:
| What to hide | Where it applies |
|---|---|
| Member count | Top-level categories only (for example, an “All Forums” umbrella category) |
| Member count | All categories |
| Discussion count | Top-level categories only |
| Discussion count | All categories |
If you only want to clean up a single top-level "umbrella" category (for example, one that shows 0 discussions because members cannot post there directly), choose the top-level option. This keeps counts visible on all sub-categories underneath.
Submit a request to hide counts
Because this setting is managed by Bevy, you will need to contact your CSM or Bevy Support to make the change. When you reach out to Bevy Support, include the following information:
- Your community URL.
- Which count(s) you want to hide: member count, discussion count, or both.
- Where you want them hidden: top-level categories only, all categories, or a specific combination.
Verify the change
After Bevy applies the change, confirm it worked by checking three places:
- Open your community in a private or incognito browser window to avoid cached pages.
- Go to your main forum page and check the category cards.
- Click into a top-level category and check its page header and the sub-category cards listed below it.
- Click into a sub-category (for example, “Announcements”) and check its page header.
Pages may take a few minutes to reflect the change due to a brief cache. If counts are still showing after a few minutes, refresh the page or contact Bevy Support for assistance.
