This article outlines how to create a hidden event. Hidden events allow you to keep an event private.
Overview
Admins and organizers can create a hidden event if the event is meant to be private and not displayed on public pages automatically when published. Admins and chapter team members with event creation permissions can make an event hidden and disable/enable certain settings regarding chapter page display of the event, social sharing, and automated emails.
All events for a hidden chapter are automatically marked as hidden events, and it's not possible to make them public.
Admins and chapter team members with full permissions will be able to view hidden events on the chapter page regardless of hidden event settings. Only people with the URL can access a hidden event, and it doesn't show up on the community homepage or in search results.
Hidden events in Inactive chapters can be accessed by Admins and chapter team members with full permissions only.
If a chapter goes from being hidden to public after the hidden event is created, the event remains hidden unless it is edited, and This is a hidden event checkbox is deselected, and all changes have been published.
Hide an event
- When you create an event, select the This is a hidden event checkbox.
- Save or publish your event.
Hidden events do not display on public chapter pages, upcoming events, or past event pages. The event URL or event permalink is needed to access the event page.
Hidden Event Options
When an event is marked as hidden, there are a few options that can be disabled or enabled.
- Show event on chapter page: show hidden events on the homepage of a chapter. Chapter team members will see the hidden events on the chapter event list regardless of this setting.
- Disable social sharing: social sharing icons will not appear on the event page or emails.
- Allow automated emails: Unless selected, Bevy will not send automated emails for this event.
