A Join Magic Link lets standard attendees open a Bevy Virtual Meetup with one click from ticket confirmation email, calendar invite, or a manually added attendee notification—without typing a password—when Magic Links are enabled for the community.
Note: Join Magic Links work only for internal Bevy Virtual Meetup events (not Zoom or other external video links). Your community must have Magic Links enabled. Privileged users (chapter team members, staff, and HQ admins) must sign in with their usual login instead of using one-click join.
Before you start
A Join Magic Link—a unique, event-scoped link emailed for a specific registration—authenticates you and routes you into the virtual event when the join window is open and you still have an active attendee record.
You do not need to request a Join Magic Link separately. When Magic Links are enabled, Bevy includes the link in registration communications for that event.
Where Join Magic Links appear
When Magic Links are enabled for the community, Join Magic Links appear in:
- Ticket confirmation emails
- Calendar invites (ICS) that include your personal join URL
- Manually added attendee notification emails (only when the organizer sends the event email—see below)
Manually added attendees and prospective users
Organizers can add someone to an event from the attendees list. If that person does not already have a Bevy account, Bevy creates a prospective user record for their email so they can be registered for the event.
Adding someone to the attendee list does not by itself deliver a Join Magic Link. The organizer must send the event email:
- When adding the attendee, leave Send event email selected (it is selected by default), or
- Later, resend the event email from the attendees list for that person
That notification email includes the personal Join Magic Link (when Magic Links are enabled for an internal Bevy Virtual Meetup). The prospective user can open the link for one-click join—without finishing full account setup first—as long as the join window is open and they are still listed as an attendee (see How Join Magic Links work below).
Tip for organizers: If you manually add someone and clear Send event email, they are registered but will not receive a Join Magic Link until you send or resend the event email. Existing members who already have accounts follow the same email rule when they are manually added.

How Join Magic Links work
Selecting your Join Magic Link authenticates you for that event and sends you into the Bevy Virtual Meetup when these conditions are met:
- You still have an active attendee (RSVP) record for the event
- The event is an incomplete internal Bevy Virtual Meetup (virtual or hybrid audience)
- The join window is open—starting 15 minutes before the scheduled start time (and until the event is marked completed)
The link itself can remain usable in your inbox for a long time (on the order of years). What limits entry is the event join window and your attendee status—not a short “hours-only” link expiry.
When a Join Magic Link cannot admit you

Keep your Join Magic Link private
Warning: Do not share your Join Magic Link. Anyone with the link can use it to join the event as you (and, depending on community settings, may receive event credentials tied to your registration). Treat it like a password.
