Embed It lets admins add third-party embed code to chapter pages as widgets. Use this overview to learn how embed codes and variables work, who can manage widgets, and where to open the admin and chapter tools.
Note: Embed It must be turned on for your community. If you do not see Widgets under Page builder, or Page widgets under chapter settings, contact your customer success manager.
What Embed It is
Embed It is the Bevy feature that turns third-party embed code into reusable widgets for chapter pages. Admins manage the widget catalog in the Admin Dashboard. Chapter organizers set chapter-specific values—such as a social handle—so the same widget can show different content on each chapter page.
Widgets render inside a sandboxed iframe on a Bevy-owned domain so the third-party script stays isolated from your community site.
How embed codes and variables work
An embed code—also called an embed script—is the HTML or script snippet a third-party site gives you to display its content. In Embed It, that snippet lives on the widget. Bevy injects it into a sandboxed iframe when the chapter page loads.
A variable is a placeholder inside the embed code, written with double braces, such as {{twitter-handle}} or {{playlist-id}}. Admins set a default value on the widget. Chapter organizers can override that value for their chapter. At render time, Bevy replaces each placeholder with the chapter value when one exists, or with the admin default.
Tip: Keep variable names short and specific to the third-party field they map to. Organizers see those names when they configure Page widgets for a chapter.
Prebuilt and custom widgets
Bevy ships five prebuilt widgets: X, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, and Spotify. Prebuilt widgets show a star badge on the widget icon. Admins can enable them and set defaults; they cannot change the embed code or delete the widget.
A custom widget is one your admin team creates by pasting embed code—for example a discussion feed or an external news widget. Custom Embed It widgets are a paid feature. Contact your customer success manager for pricing. When custom widgets are enabled for your community, admins see New widget on the Widgets tab.
Who can manage widgets

Chapter organizers who can change chapter settings typically also receive permission to view widgets and edit chapter variable values. Exact chapter roles depend on how your community is configured.
Where to open Embed It
Admin Dashboard
- Open the Admin Dashboard.
- Select Page builder.
- Select the Widgets tab.
The path is Admin Dashboard → Page builder → Widgets. From here, admins set up, preview, edit, and—for custom widgets—delete widgets.

Note: Setup and Edit open the same configuration modal. Setup is the label when a prebuilt widget is not yet enabled on any page type.
Chapter Dashboard
- Open the chapter dashboard.
- Select Settings.
- Select Page widgets.
