What is a Prospective User?
A prospective user is a user who has not yet registered or logged into the Bevy site.
They are converted into a registered User, by following the normal sign up flow, making sure to use the same email associated with the prospective user. After this, they should have an active account and be able to proceed as normal.
Please note that, The prospective users cannot reset their password until they have an active account – prospective users do not get password reset emails as they are not real users yet and do not currently have a password set.
To identify a Prospective User, you go to the Admin Dashboard / Members list and in the Member details page, you'll find the Role assigned is "Prospective User"
How are Prospective User created?
In general, the prospective user is all user who is created on the end user's behalf.
The best way to understand how a "Prospective User" is created is by thinking about how a "User" is created in the first place: The only possible options are Bevy user Signup or SSO Signup. All the other functions that create a user, it's always a "Prospective User".
That includes, but not limited to:
- Manual attendee added (when the email doesn't exist)
- Chapter import or manual addition (when the emails don't exist)
- Users from Meetup
What emails can we send to Prospective users?
The prospective users will receive all emails except for the Welcome email and Password Reset (because they never sign up)
