This article includes all the information necessary for a successful configuration of Google Analytics 4 in Bevy.
Please note: Google Universal Analytics property will stop processing data on July 1, 2023. Bevy will support both GA4 and Universal Analytics until Google retires Universal Analytics.
Connect Bevy with Google Analytics 4 to track registration conversions or page traffic. This makes it easier to understand where your event registrations are coming from and be more targeted with your campaigns.
Find here some examples of how you could use GA4:
-
Track site traffic
-
Track community sign-ups as goals
-
Track Sharing of an event or chapter page
-
Track ticket purchases as goals
How to configure GA4
-
Before enabling GA4 in Bevy, you’ll need to get the GA4 property from Google.
-
Once you have the GA4 ID generated, introduce it to the corresponding field in the General Settings of your Admin Dashboard, in the 3rd Part Services Section:
Google Analytics 4 Measurement ID
-
Save the settings and that’s it! GA4 should be now receiving the corresponding data from Bevy.
Please note: Bevy will still have a setting for Google Universal Analytics enabled, so you can run both in parallel during the transition period.
What new actions can be sent to your GA4 Event Stream
GA4 is event-driven, so we can get data for certain actions users take. Find here the list of events that you’ll be able to track from GA4:
-
add_to_cart
- User adding one or more tickets to their "cart" (i.e. choosing one or more tickets and clicking the purchase button) -
remove_from_cart
- User reducing a ticket count to 0 -
join_group
- User clicking the join chapter button successfully -
begin_checkout
- User clicking the Order Now or RSVP button -
purchase
- User finishes the purchase -
Share
- User shares the event
More Insights
Should you wish more insights to be sent to GA4, then you’d need to enable Cookie Tracking and Google Signals.
-
All data is set as anonymous, and only the minimum amount of data is sent through. When you install a Cookie Tracker, such as OneTrust that we have a native integration for, and the user accepts the tracking options, then you will receive more information within GA4
-
Within GA4, you can enable Google Signals to get more unique data from Bevy. Please ensure to get approval from your compliance team regarding this.
Configuring GA4 Consent for Enhanced User Privacy
To enhance your Google Analytics 4 (GA4) integration with Bevy, you can implement GA4's consent mode using OneTrust to manage user consent preferences effectively.
Steps to Implement GA4 Consent Mode with OneTrust
-
Enable in Bevy
- This step can be skipped if you use the out-of-the-box integration of Bevy OneTrust.
- If you have a custom script for OneTrust:
- Go to Admin Dashboard / 3rd party services
- Make sure "Force Google Analytics Consent Mode" is enabled
-
Access OneTrust Admin Panel:
- Ensure you have administrative access to your organization's OneTrust account.
-
Enable Google Consent Integration:
- Navigate to the Geolocation Rules section within the OneTrust Cookie Manager.
- Activate the Google Consent integration.
- Note: Bevy utilizes only the Ad Storage and Analytics Storage options within this integration.
-
No Script Tag Modifications Needed:
- Bevy automatically handles the necessary script integrations, so you don't need to modify any script tags on your site.
By completing these steps, your users' data will be transmitted to Google Analytics based on their consent preferences. Without enabling this integration, no personalized data will be sent by default.
