Chapter Page Builder

Turn on chapter page builder in the Admin Dashboard so published chapter pages use that layout. Edit the default template there. Open Page builder on one chapter to save a layout of its own.

Turn chapter page builder on

This setting is in the Admin Dashboard. It covers every published chapter page. The event page has its own setting on the same screen.

  1. Open the Admin Dashboard.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select General.
  4. Select Page Builder.
  5. Select Enable chapter page builder.
  6. Select Save Settings, then confirm.

Published chapter pages then use the page builder layout. A chapter that already has its own saved page keeps that page. Every other chapter uses the default chapter template.

Clear Enable chapter page builder and select Save Settings to show the fixed chapter page on every chapter. That page is the banner layout. A saved chapter page is kept, and it shows again when you turn the setting back on.

Edit the default chapter template

The default template is the layout for chapters that do not have their own saved page. A change here does not replace a chapter page that was already saved.

  1. In the Admin Dashboard, select Page builder. The page title is Page builder templates.
  2. On Chapter Page, select Edit default chapter template.
  3. Edit the layout and save it. The message is Save was successful!

Edit one chapter page

This editor is for one chapter. It does not change the default template.

  1. Open the chapter dashboard.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Page builder.

The canvas — the area that shows the chapter page while you edit it — opens in the dashboard.

Edit the layout and save it. The message is Save was successful! Select View live page to open that chapter.

If you leave with unsaved changes, the dialog title is Unsaved changes. Select Cancel to stay. Select Discard changes to leave.

If Page builder is missing, the chapter role does not include adding, editing, and deleting the chapter page.

How a chapter page gets its layout

While chapter page builder is on, Bevy uses the first layout it finds:

  • A saved page for that chapter.
  • The default chapter template, when the chapter has no saved page.
  • The built-in chapter layout, when no default template has been saved yet.

Save a chapter page that matches the default template and the saved page is removed. The message is Reset was successful! That chapter uses the template again.
